These are the world’s fastest container ports
New data from the World Bank shows where containers were handled particularly quickly in 2025 and where ships rarely had to wait. According to the data, container ships wait the shortest time in Asia.
The World Bank’s recently updated Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) lists the Chinese ports of Fuzhou and Dalian as the container ports with the fastest handling times. They are followed by Salalah in Oman. The top three are export or transhipment hubs: Fuzhou is the Chinese seaport closest to Taiwan. Dalian lies directly opposite the Korean coast and not far from the Russian coast. With its location on the south coast of Oman, the port of Salalah serves as a distribution hub for the Arabian Peninsula and the Persian Gulf. Europe’s ports rank in the middle of the table, with Hamburg operating faster than the European average in 2025 and Rotterdam significantly slower. For its CPPI ranking, the World Bank measures the time between the arrival and departure of ships in ports. In total, the World Bank assessed around 400 ports.
