Supply chains still disrupted
In Shanghai, the lockdown is being eased in some parts of the city. Although there are signs of improvement, the lockdowns will last until at least mid-May and will continue to affect truck , port and airport operations.
In most parts of the city, residents are still unable to leave their homes. Shanghai airports are still not allowed to handle cargo. Other airports, such as Zhengzhou (CGO), are congested as cargo is diverted there from / to Shanghai. Significant reductions in truck capacity, as well as factory and warehouse closures, have resulted in ships being diverted to the nearby ports of Ningbo, Qingdao and Tianjin (Xingang). The consequences of the Chinese government’s “zero COVID” policy will have a major impact on all transportation and manufacturing operations in the region, as well as globally.
