COVID-19 Outbreak challenges Hong Kong’s largest airfreight terminal
Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited, the largest airfreight terminal in the city, is struggling with severe delays while as many as 70% of its staff are on sick leave due to an ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.
Cross-border transportation to Hong Kong, via both ground and barge, is also very limited, while government medical shipments take priority and truck drivers are quarantined. The situation is also driving up airfreight costs out of Shenzhen and Guangzhou.
