AEO
K&L certified as AEO F
Kopf & Lübben was certified as an Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) with effect from October 30th 2009.
In order to respond to security concerns relating to the international trade in goods, the European Commission presented a series of measures designed to provide a coordinated and effective response. One of the main elements of the Customs Security Program (CSP) of the European Community Customs Code (Regulation (EC) 648/2005) is the creation of the AEO concept, which is comparable to C-TPAT in the USA.
On the basis of article 5a of the security amendments, European Member States can grant the AEO status to any economic operator meeting the common criteria of customs compliance, appropriate record-keeping, financial solvency and minimum security and safety standards. This new security framework became applicable from July 1st 2009 and Kopf & Lübben is amongst the first freight forwarders in Germany to attain this status.
The status of AEO granted by one Member State is recognised by the other Member States and allows the AEO to benefit from facilitations with regard to the new customs controls relating to security. "The security type of AEO certificate allocated to K&L gives us substantial advantages in terms of handling customer's cargo within the European Union.
